3 rivers in 1 city: Passau and its nickname DreiflüssenStadt

After Munich, I travelled to Passau a city with 50.415 inhabitants, because my friend Bettina lives there. The town is in Lower Bavaria and it's known as the DreiflüssenStadt (city of three rivers), because Danube, Inn and Ilz meet there. I advice you to go there on sunset, because atmosphere is amazing and you can see three different river colors. Danube is the darker, the green and lighter one is Inn and the other is Ilz.

The city center is not so big and you can visit it quickly. There is Sant Stephan's cathedral with the second largest church pipe organ in the world. It has 17.774 pipes and 233 registrers and the first largest one is today the organ at First Congregational Church in Los Angeles.

Das Rathaus (Town Hall)
Hochwasser (Water marks)
Near "Der Dom" as Germans say, there is the Old Town Hall where you can see, on the right,  the high water marks. Someone calls Passau the Bavarian Venice, because last year Danube overflew its banks and reached 12.50 metres! This river is well known for its floods, indeed the record was in 1501: from 13 to 13.2 metres!!!

Passau is a beautiful city also for bikers, because you can ride along the Danube river to Wien for 326 km, but I didn't go there.
I love eating, that's why I preferred to stay in the city centre eating a SUPER Käse Spätzle with onion and vegetables!

Bis Bald! :)
